Falling From A Great Height
The night before I had gone to dinner at one of the speciality restaurants on the cruise ship with a friend. Along with the wonderful food, we also had a good amount of wine, so by the end of the night, we were pretty tipsy.
As I lay on the ground in pain struggling to move, my roommate poked her head out of her curtain and asked sleepily, “you ok”? I screeched “yeah”, and then continued to lie frozen on the floor with my eyes wide open, wondering if I would be able to move.
Now you may be thinking this wouldn’t happen because in a top bunk you have a rail to stop you. Well, I didn’t have one, and as it was my first time on a ship, I assumed it was normal not to have a rail so I didn’t say anything.
After a good 5 minutes, I slowly rolled onto my side and then onto my knees, to reach for the phone. I called my Manager to tell her I would be late as I had just fallen out my top bunk and got a grunt down the phone and then she hung up.
Luckily the hit to my head wasn’t too severe and all I had to show from my fall was the bruises which looked a lot worse than they felt, surprisingly.
More from the ships.
