Three Things To Do In Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. It’s a fast-paced city with a modern skyline that lights up the city at night. As it is boiling hot during the day, night time seems to be when this city really comes alive. The markets are all lit up with beautiful coloured lights and sell everything you could ever need and want.

What I did there

The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
This enormous bird park is home to over 200 species of bird. The park is split into 4 sections.  In 1 and 2 the birds fly freely beneath a huge canopy. In sections 3 & 4 they are in huge cages.  I really enjoyed the bird park. I always have liked the idea of flying, like many others. Lara and I sat with ice cream and watched the magnificent birds for what seemed like hours. Feeding times are throughout the day, and they also have informative seminars about particular birds if you are interested.

Perdana Botanical Garden
After watching the birds in the morning, Lara and I had a long but lovely walk to the Botanical Gardens which people had raved about. The gardens are full of exotic flowers and beautiful waterfalls. We even saw a few deer running around while we were there. It is a lovely place to come and get some peace away from all the hustle and bustle. As we were on a budget, we took a picnic, so sat by the lake and watched the world go by.

Cameron Highlands
Only a 3-hour drive away from the busy Kuala Lumpur you will find the Cameron Highlands. I was blown away by the lush greenery and the amazing view.  Lara and I went to pick delicious strawberries. We also took a long walk through the colourful rose gardens and then visited a tea farm. It was a lovely day out exploring the highlands, and I would recommend going if you get the chance.

Things to know

Walk it
It’s a great city to walk around.  Although things are widely spaced out because there is so much to see, I think the best way to do so is to walk from place to place. You also save a lot of money because you’re not paying for taxis.

Currency
Malaysian Ringgit

Population
1,500,000 people

Twinning
Kuala Lumpur has their own twin towers which are connected by a bridge that is located at the 41st and the 42nd floor.

This city is fun, fast and fashionable. The prices are low, and there is a lot to see here.
