Applying a highlighter is something I only used to do if I was going out to a fancy restaurant or club, but over the past few months, it has become an everyday occurrence. These days I can’t leave the house without a glaze of sparkle.
Highlighter has worked its way up the make-up the ladder and is now considered by many a makeup bag essential. It can turn the most basic looks into one that has come straight out of a Disney movie.
As there are so many different brands and formulas of highlighters, it’s hard to know which one is best for you as some cling to the pores and make the skin look clogged, while others help to create the illusion of air-brushed skin.
I hadn’t heard much about the Becca highlighters, so before using it, I had no idea what to expect, only what I had experienced with other brands.
The evening of buying the highlighters I was heading out for a few drinks with a friend so I thought it to be a perfect time to try the one out. I decided to go with the liquid as I thought that would be more intense. I was right! The wand applicator makes it easy to apply to the cheeks and the bridge of the nose. I used a beauty blender to blend it into my skin to leave an effortless glow. The whipped mouse consistency felt weightless on my cheeks and didn’t emphasise my pores like I thought it might, as others I have used in the past have. The highlight lasted well. It looked the same at 1 am as it did at 7 pm which was impressive, and another thing that was nice was (something they forgot to mention on the box) it comes with compliments.
I was so impressed with the liquid highlight during the evening, that the next day I was very eager to try the powder highlight. It went on very well and blended easily, but I felt I had to dip into the pan 3 or 4 times for one cheek to get the desired effect, but I tend to douse my face with it anyway. This is definitely a buildable highlight, so you can go super subtle or super shimmer which makes this highlight more versatile. This one didn’t last as long as the liquid, but I had to take into consideration that I was out and about all day, sightseeing.
Although the packaging didn’t state when to use the highlighters (because it all comes down to personal preference) I would say the liquid is definitely for the evening and the powder is for daytime.
Overall I really like these highlighters. Are they my favourite? The liquid more than the powder. I have been using the liquid one almost every day, but haven’t really used the powder highlight.
Let me know if you have used Becca highlighters and what you think. I would love to know.
