What is face powder supposed to do?
Face powder is a marvellous invention, used to mattify the look of the skin, and can be used to set your make up in place.
How should I apply powder?
Depending on what you are using it for, there are two main ways to apply it :
When using powder to set your concealer in place i.e “bake”, I recommend using a damp beauty sponge to press the powder into the skin. Dip the sponge into the powder so you have a thin layer covering the sponge and then press the powder into your concealer. After leaving it for 5 minutes to ‘bake’ use a brush to dust it away.
When using powder to magnify your skin, you can use a big fluffy brush to dust the powder all over the face or, again use a beauty sponge to press the powder into the skin. If I press the powder into my foundation it makes me feel as though I have a thick layer of makeup on, so like to give my face a light dusting of powder.
When to use a powder
Apply the powder after you have applied all your creamy, liquid products. when you put creamy products over powder they tend to make a paste and don’t sit well on the skin.
What powder do I recommend?
Bare Minerals Veil Finishing Powder
Diorskin Nude Air Compact Powder
Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder
Do I need to use powder?
If you find throughout the day that your skin gets oily, your foundation comes off or your concealer doesn’t stay on, then yes, try using powder to improve the staying power of your makeup.
What things to avoid?
The powder goes on top of your makeup. Never apply powder under creamy products.
